Webdesk, TNI Islampur, 31st July, 2017: The Islampur Fire Brigade is now facing a huge water crisis. Courtesy, the illegal filling up of various water bodies in and around Islampur town. This has created problems of emergency fire dousing. In this regard, the OC of Islampur Fire station Mr. Rajib Kundu told TNI “Water Bodies in Islampur are almost nil here. The administration needs to take appropriate measures alongside the residents should also need to be aware of the situation.
On the other hand, the MLA and Islampur Municipal Chairman Mr. Kanhaiyalal Agarwal said “Not all water bodies of Islampur are ponds. Those water bodies are small private water holes dug by them. Now they have made constructions over them. If ponds are filled then the administration would definitely take action”. A ray of hope was shown by the BLRO Mr. Krishnendu Bagchi when he said that, there are provisions for the administration to re dig the filled lands if they were ponds earlier according to the Land records. However, time will say how the administration is going to tackle the problem in the near future.
